Classes (June 2001)

Classes will have to change, and the proposal is to modify or add some new classes and make these the only classes that can have new characters in the future.

[Fighter]
A class dedicated to the fighting skills, with access to all physical combat skills. Eventually this will get renamed back to the warrior class but during the overlap period it may be called Fighter class. At high levels, there will be the option to learn some skills from the other classes at the expense of advanced fighter skills.

[Priest]
A class dedicated to religion, the caring and healing of others. This class will have some combat skills and will be very similar to the cleric class currently. It has all the healing spells that are not available to other classes. At high levels, there will be the option to learn some skills from the other classes at the expense of advanced priest skills. Magical skills will not be obtainable. Alignment must be maintained to preserve ability to cast spells.

[Magician]
A class dedicated to magical powers. Again very similar to mages but without the need for books. The class will have access to the complete range of mage spells, ie necromancy and fire. It will not have any healing spells except those found in necromacy. At high levels, there will be the option to learn some skills from the other classes at the expense of advanced priest skills. Priest skills will not be obtainable.

[Rogue]
The only rogue class will be replaced by this. There are only a limited number of characters in this class. If this changes then a new name will need to be picked. This class will contain all the skills of the assassin, thief, bard classes. Not all will be accessible, and as with others the ability to choose skills from other classes, except priest, will be possible.

[Druid]
This class will be very similar to that of the mage but without access to some forms of spells, such as necromacy. It will however be the only class with access to the full range of nature spells, such as monsum and charm animal. Due to it's affinity with nature it will experience a 50% reduction in travel costs. Again at high levels multi-classing of skills will be possible.

[Ranger]
This class will have advantages for the explorers. There will be a 50% reduction in travel costs and other similar protections. This class will be designed to be a combination of a druid and a warrior. It will have a combination of druid spells and warriors. Again at high levels multi-classing of skills will be possible.

[Paladin]
This class will be the religious warrior type. It can be considered a 75% warrior and a 25% priest. It's spell range will consist of the simpler priest spells, such as learnt in a few years at the priest schools, such as cure light, light, fly, bless. It will not have the more powerful priest spells. Combat skills will be limited in comparison with a pure warrior but will be greater than any other class. Alignment must be maintained to preserve ability to cast spells. Paladins can be of any alignment. Very similar to the current paladin class. Multi-classing will be available at higher levels but not with magical skills.
